Bridesmaid Wedding Speech

A while ago I attended yet another wedding as a bridesmaid, and once again I had to make a new toast for this unforgettable day. Since it was not exactly my first Bridesmaid wedding speech, I knew a few tricks or two. But this time I really wanted to make something different and special.

So I thought of the idea to use wedding poems in the speech! By using some poems, I could really touch my friend, and as both the groom and the bride where artistic and really into arts an poems, it was quite a challenge. In the end they where really moved by my poem, not just for the content, but for the thought of using poems for the maid of honor toast.

Below you can find a few of my favorite poems to use in your bridesmaid wedding speech.

May life’s road rise to greet you.
May the winds of life’s storms be always at your backs.
May life’s joys shine warm upon the circle of your family.
Until the end of days, may the God of your fathers hold you and keep you safe in the hollow of his love.

Standing by,
All the way.
Here to help you through your day.

Holding you up,
When you are weak,
Helping you find what it is you seek.

Catching your tears,
When you cry.
Pulling you through when the tide is high.

Just being there,
Through thick and thin,
All just to say, you are my friend.

And here is my personal favorite wedding poem:

No matter how we have fought, we will always be sisters.
Neither marriage nor distance nor children will change
The frictional fondness, part balm and part blisters,
No dawn can diminish nor passion make strange.

Like two trees with their wrestling roots underground,
Fighting for sun while restraining the wind,
By close and protracted proximity bound,
We’ve been shaped by a force that no fate can rescind.

And so it’s with undaunted pleasure that I
Bid farewell to a part of myself, for I know
That beyond the illusions of what, when, and why,
We’ll be together wherever we go.
