A while ago I attended yet another wedding as a bridesmaid, and once again I had to make a new toast for this unforgettable day. Since it was not exactly my first Bridesmaid wedding speech, I knew a few tricks or two. But this time I really wanted to make something different and special.

So I thought of the idea to use wedding poems in the speech! By using some poems, I could really touch my friend, and as both the groom and the bride where artistic and really into arts an poems, it was quite a challenge. In the end they where really moved by my poem, not just for the content, but for the thought of using poems for the maid of honor toast.

Below you can find a few of my favorite poems to use in your bridesmaid wedding speech.

May life’s road rise to greet you.
May the winds of life’s storms be always at your backs.
May life’s joys shine warm upon the circle of your family.
Until the end of days, may the God of your fathers hold you and keep you safe in the hollow of his love.

Standing by,
All the way.
Here to help you through your day.

Holding you up,
When you are weak,
Helping you find what it is you seek.

Catching your tears,
When you cry.
Pulling you through when the tide is high.

Just being there,
Through thick and thin,
All just to say, you are my friend.

And here is my personal favorite wedding poem:

No matter how we have fought, we will always be sisters.
Neither marriage nor distance nor children will change
The frictional fondness, part balm and part blisters,
No dawn can diminish nor passion make strange.

Like two trees with their wrestling roots underground,
Fighting for sun while restraining the wind,
By close and protracted proximity bound,
We’ve been shaped by a force that no fate can rescind.

And so it’s with undaunted pleasure that I
Bid farewell to a part of myself, for I know
That beyond the illusions of what, when, and why,
We’ll be together wherever we go.

If you want more inspiration, make sure you click here and check out Wedding Speech 4 U. That guide has helped me sooo much in writing all of my bridesmaid wedding speeches, and I really owe a big thanks to them! If it wasn’t without their help, I would never have moved so many people in all the weddings I have attended.

Who said that a Bridesmaid Speech has to be boring? Coming up is a small post about how I made my Bridesmaid Speech funny, and a few tips & tricks I found around on the internet when you try to use humor in the toast. There are so many cool ways to add the humor to get that Funny Bridesmaid Speech, so I would recommend you to have a look around on the internet, and maybe get some guides and examples to help you along. That is what I did, and that really helped my writing my Bridesmaid Speech.

Be Careful With Humor
Now I know I might be repeating myself a bit here, but it is just so important that you don’t overdo the funny-part of the toast. You’re not a stand-up clown, you’re a bridesmaid, and you really need to avoid offending the guests. Remember the whole family of the newly-weds are there, so be careful with what you say.

After saying that, we can continue to a few of the good ways to make your toast funny. One of them is the idea to use music and songs, and it really works amazingly. I found this YouTube video you can see below, where a couple of bridesmaids use songs and music to make their bridesmaid speeches.

I don’t know about you guys, but I think that toast really took the audience with storm, and made one hell of a funny bridesmaid speech. You might be thinking that it is hard to make a toast like that, but it really isn’t. I would recommend you to check out the guides at Wedding Speech 4 U, a website I found and used a lot writing my bridesmaid toasts. It was probably the biggest inspiration to me, and I am not ashamed at all to have used a guide, since my speeches where absolutely amazing, and the people at the wedding had such a good time.

I hope that this gave you some inspiration for your own Bridesmaid Wedding Speech, and I can only wish you good luck and have a fun wedding. Make sure you live up to the honor it is being a bridesmaid.

It doesn’t matter if you are the bridesmaid or maid of honor, if you have to write a speech it can be really hard at times. That is why I now have gathered these 5 golden tips for you, so you can have it a lot easier when writing your bridesmaid wedding speech. These tips should give you a good idea about what to put in your wedding toast, to make the bride, groom and everybody else at the wedding happy.

Tip 1: Starting on your speech
Now you have to remember, that even though you might be a close friend or in family with the bride and groom, chances are that not all the guests at the wedding will know who you are. So start by making an announcement with who you are, and your relation to the bride. This is a very good way to start your speech, so everybody knows who you are.

Tip 2: Be careful with humor
Humor is an excellent idea to use in your toast, but be careful. Don’t over-do it and be careful not to embarrass or humiliate the bride, groom or other guests. Make a few jokes, but keep it sober for the kids, grandparents and other guests at the wedding.

Tip 3: Compliment the groom
Make sure that you have compliments enough for the groom in your speech. You might notice that the best man will always compliment the bride; do the favor and compliment the groom, make sure you say some nice things about him.

Tip 4: Be the bride’s spokeswomen
When you make your bridesmaid wedding toast, remember that it is the brides big day; she will probably only have one day like this in her life, so make sure to communicate to the guests how lucky she is, and hopefully, how happy she is on her big day. Again, it would be a good idea to put some nice things and stories about the groom and bride in your wedding speech.

Tip 5: Be a bit nostalgic
This is truly a killer-tip; be nostalgic in your speech. This is what moves people, and if you can find a funny childhood story, or some funny and cozy story from the beginning of the relationship between the newly-weds, this will be a big hit in your speech.

When writing your bridesmaid wedding speech, it can sometimes be hard to think of what to actually put in your bridesmaid speech. It is a good thing to look at some examples of wedding speeches, which I, unfortunately, didn’t make use of until the last minute – I would recommend looking at some examples to avoid the “writers block” and getting everything ready before the big day.

Finding examples and still writing a unique speech
When I wrote my first speech being the maid of honor, I was struck by the writer’s block – I just couldn’t think of what I should put in the bridesmaid speech. It can really be hard to think of, but here are a few points I found really useful:

Introduce yourself to the people at the wedding, giving a brief story about your relation to the bride

Find some funny stories about the bride and the groom

Compliment the groom – always works to point out how lucky he is to be with the bride

Wedding speech jokes, make sure to have some humor in your toast

Some points about the brides personality – as a bridesmaid, you should know her better than most people at the wedding

This is just a few examples of what you could put in your bridesmaid speech. There are many other good examples of toasts and speeches, and I would really recommend you to look around the internet for guides and examples.

As this is a big day, don’t make you speech too short; make an ordered list of what you want in the speech and stick to it. That really helped me out at my first wedding as a bridesmaid. But remember not to ramble for too long, don’t get the guests bored – stick to your points, and get the audience involved.

When it comes to writing a good bridesmaid wedding speech, there are a lot of things you can say, include and consider. But what I am going to reveal now, is the most important thing of them all, when you are writing your toast – it is not the only thing to consider in your toast, but it is definitely the most important thing of them all.

Click here if you want the easiest way to write a maid of honor speech.

Write from your heart
Okay okay – you have probably heard it before, and maybe it sounds like a tacky or simple trick. But there is no way around it; this is definitely the most important thing in your toast. When you are writing down what you would like to say, keep it true and keep writing from your heart. Everything in your speech has to be important, both for you, the bride, the groom and everybody else at the wedding.

I don’t help making a lot of jokes, trying to be fun or whatever, if there is no honesty at all in your speech. This is what I discovered when I made my first bridesmaid wedding speech. If your jokes if funny but still comes from the heart, everyone will laugh and remember the speech.

Being funny is being honest – but not too honest!
You have probably heard the expression: “It’s funny because it’s true”. Yea, it really works but think about what you are going to say. Embarrassing or humiliating the bride, groom or parents at the wedding doesn’t work – and talking about ex-boyfriends or other relationships NEVER works – don’t ever start on doing that.

But some jokes about the funny things you have done with the bride, maybe how it was after she med the groom, is all things you can consider to put in. Start by writing down what you feel is important, and don’t think too much about how it can be funny. If it comes from the heart, you have a much bigger chance of moving the guests at the wedding, and then you will truly make that speech nobody will forget.

The first time I was a bridesmaid, I had to make a speech at the wedding. I did the wrong thing; waited until last second with writing my speech. This was absolutely a mess, and made me panic the day before the wedding – and I still had to have time for the bride, who needed me in the last time up to the wedding.

The best advice you get – and you really need to follow it: prepare in good time.

Why? Well, standing up in front of a lot of people can be pretty nerve-wracking, and if you don’t have a toast you really feel confident with, no one will enjoy your toast. And of course we all want to look our best, at a best friend’s wedding. Being the “Matron” in the wedding is always challenging, and you need to remember that this has to be the best day ever, for the bride.

But the first thing I did, that really worked for me, was to sit down and brainstorm about ideas. I just wrote down small words and sentences about everything I could think of: funny times with my best friend, facts about the groom, the other bridesmaids, the best man, father and mother of the bride and so on. Luckily most of us at the wedding new each other pretty well, so this was not that big of a problem.

Note that there are much faster methods of writing bridesmaid wedding speeches, but this is what really worked for me the first time.

This is pretty much the first stage of the speech or the toast. At this point you should not think about the order of what your writing, but just focus on what you want in your toast.
