Make A Toast To Bridesmaids: The Best Bridesmaid Speech

First of all, I would like to say that writing that perfect bridesmaid speech is such a hard job. Trust me; I have been a bridesmaid at more weddings than most people, and there really is no easy way around. However, if you are having troubles making the toast to the bridesmaids, you should really check out this site. It is probably the resource that I have used the most in all of my speeches. There you can find so many examples of toasts, wedding poems and just a lot of great inspiration to make every other bridesmaid cry when she hears your speech.

Now first of all, when writing a toast to the bridesmaids, you got to remember that you want to move people. People are not moved by the same, but one of the great things (as I wrote about in my last post), is using wedding poems. Most people really love poems, and if you can read it out the right way, your wedding toast will truly be the one they will remember best from the wedding.

A few other tips is to always include the groom and the bride. They should of course be the center of your toast, but don’t dwell too much on it. You can always choose to make it funny, just don’t cross the line.
Now the really tricky part is actually to create the toast to bridesmaids. With a perfect toast, they should be so moved that they get tears in their eyes when they hear your speech. If you can make the other bridesmaids cry, you have indeed achieved the goal of writing the ultimate wedding-speech for bridesmaids and maid of honors.

Are you still missing inspiration? You can always do like I did the first time: Check out Wedding Speech 4 U. They have lots of examples, even wedding poems and fully completed speeches, that you can either use completely or just take parts and get inspiration. I have to admit, that it is really my favorite resource for wedding-toasts. Without that guide, all of my maid of honor speeches would never have been as good as they turned out to be.

Funny Bridesmaid Speech

Who said that a Bridesmaid Speech has to be boring? Coming up is a small post about how I made my Bridesmaid Speech funny, and a few tips & tricks I found around on the internet when you try to use humor in the toast. There are so many cool ways to add the humor to get that Funny Bridesmaid Speech, so I would recommend you to have a look around on the internet, and maybe get some guides and examples to help you along. That is what I did, and that really helped my writing my Bridesmaid Speech.

Be Careful With Humor
Now I know I might be repeating myself a bit here, but it is just so important that you don’t overdo the funny-part of the toast. You’re not a stand-up clown, you’re a bridesmaid, and you really need to avoid offending the guests. Remember the whole family of the newly-weds are there, so be careful with what you say.

After saying that, we can continue to a few of the good ways to make your toast funny. One of them is the idea to use music and songs, and it really works amazingly. I found this YouTube video you can see below, where a couple of bridesmaids use songs and music to make their bridesmaid speeches.

I don’t know about you guys, but I think that toast really took the audience with storm, and made one hell of a funny bridesmaid speech. You might be thinking that it is hard to make a toast like that, but it really isn’t. I would recommend you to check out the guides at Wedding Speech 4 U, a website I found and used a lot writing my bridesmaid toasts. It was probably the biggest inspiration to me, and I am not ashamed at all to have used a guide, since my speeches where absolutely amazing, and the people at the wedding had such a good time.

I hope that this gave you some inspiration for your own Bridesmaid Wedding Speech, and I can only wish you good luck and have a fun wedding. Make sure you live up to the honor it is being a bridesmaid.

What to put in bridesmaid speech

When writing your bridesmaid wedding speech, it can sometimes be hard to think of what to actually put in your bridesmaid speech. It is a good thing to look at some examples of wedding speeches, which I, unfortunately, didn’t make use of until the last minute – I would recommend looking at some examples to avoid the “writers block” and getting everything ready before the big day.

Finding examples and still writing a unique speech
When I wrote my first speech being the maid of honor, I was struck by the writer’s block – I just couldn’t think of what I should put in the bridesmaid speech. It can really be hard to think of, but here are a few points I found really useful:

  • Introduce yourself to the people at the wedding, giving a brief story about your relation to the bride
  • Find some funny stories about the bride and the groom
  • Compliment the groom – always works to point out how lucky he is to be with the bride
  • Wedding speech jokes, make sure to have some humor in your toast
  • Some points about the brides personality – as a bridesmaid, you should know her better than most people at the wedding

This is just a few examples of what you could put in your bridesmaid speech. There are many other good examples of toasts and speeches, and I would really recommend you to look around the internet for guides and examples.

As this is a big day, don’t make you speech too short; make an ordered list of what you want in the speech and stick to it. That really helped me out at my first wedding as a bridesmaid. But remember not to ramble for too long, don’t get the guests bored – stick to your points, and get the audience involved.

How I wrote my first bridesmaid wedding speech

The first time I was a bridesmaid, I had to make a speech at the wedding. I did the wrong thing; waited until last second with writing my speech. This was absolutely a mess, and made me panic the day before the wedding – and I still had to have time for the bride, who needed me in the last time up to the wedding.

The best advice you get – and you really need to follow it: prepare in good time.

Why? Well, standing up in front of a lot of people can be pretty nerve-wracking, and if you don’t have a toast you really feel confident with, no one will enjoy your toast. And of course we all want to look our best, at a best friend’s wedding. Being the “Matron” in the wedding is always challenging, and you need to remember that this has to be the best day ever, for the bride.

But the first thing I did, that really worked for me, was to sit down and brainstorm about ideas. I just wrote down small words and sentences about everything I could think of: funny times with my best friend, facts about the groom, the other bridesmaids, the best man, father and mother of the bride and so on. Luckily most of us at the wedding new each other pretty well, so this was not that big of a problem.

Note that there are much faster methods of writing bridesmaid wedding speeches, but this is what really worked for me the first time.

This is pretty much the first stage of the speech or the toast. At this point you should not think about the order of what your writing, but just focus on what you want in your toast. The biggest block is actually to start writing before you have decided exactly on the content. By just putting down my thoughts on paper, was my way of getting over the first hurdle of my bridesmaid wedding speech.
